well then.
I have really wanted to share with you what I've been working on. but here's the problem. this is one of those times when an artistic endeavor doesn't translate well to this blog medium. because it depends on the interrelatedness of groups of images. I hope you can get the gist. see it bigger here.
my artomatic project is called "aspects of spring". the idea "sprung" from the day I was choosing my little corner of artomatic-ville and spent some time pondering the view of the new construction happening all over my neighborhood.
later that day, SH and I went to pick up the bees to populate our rooftop apiary. we chatted about how quickly the bees would begin to construct comb and how soon they would start to gather pollen and how soon they would begin to procreate...
and I saw the opportunity to do a project about bees and people as they started to emerge in the spring and go about the business of building and collecting and interacting. not so much as a statement on the beeness of people, or the peopleness of bees, but more as a comparative visual study.
I also wanted to challenge myself by completing all the work for the show in one month. with polaroid cameras I hadn't used before.
and it was challenging. frustratingly, gleefully, stompingly, stingingly, blissfully challenging.
to see the polaroid prints in the manner they were meant to be viewed, please come to:

*I will update this entry soon to include the locations of other friends who are participating. right now I must go hang my prints at the last possible minute.*

sometimes in doing a submission, I find myself having to go back to some old files looking for something to fit the theme. the one above I've never posted. I probably won't submit it (because there are better images), but I kinda wonder why I never posted it.
the other funny thing about looking through old files are the conflicting thoughts that run through my head.
"wow. I"m not half bad."
"damn, I've really come a long way. these suck."
"when did I shoot that?"
"I should give this whole thing up."
"why haven't I done more with these?"
