air swimming

Fishlips

I used to have this recurring dream. in it, there would be tanks of tropical fish. sometimes at my home. sometimes in a pet store. sometimes at other people's houses. but it would always be the same after that. the fish would suddenly "escape" from their tanks and float around the room. they didn't seem to be distressd. they just swam through the air. but I would get panicked and race around trying to gather them back into their tanks, anyway.

I refuse to be one of those people who thrives on crisis. I grew up with one of those.

I choose, instead, to lie back and watch the fishes swim through the air.

better yet, I'll join them.

drink me

Blue Coyote Laughing (the drink):

Equal parts limoncello and tequila, roughly layered.
About 5ml of Blue Bols deposited in the centre using a straw.

"We got quite pretty colours and patterns by putting the Blue Bols in the middle and then gently rolling the glass between our palms. It made a little tornado inside the glass. It was a bugger to photograph. Inside my head it looks a bit different. The cloudy limoncello on the bottom, the tequila on top and the Blue Bols spiralling in the centre."

can't wait to try it! thanks, Sam!

I've done it before. and better.

Rr

turns out I didn't have all the chemistry I needed and I'm in a holding pattern waiting for the rest. hmpf.

'nuff said.

after many days of waiting by the door, tapping my foot, the UPS guy finally brought my print chemistry.

you see, it's fine for me to take 3 weeks to make a decision about which process to use, but when I decide it's time to move forward, the whole world must be ready, too.

having to wait for 2 weeks for something I ordered online... let's just say I was wee bit impatient with that situation.

a friend said, "there you are with the camera between your legs again."

this is a small departure from what I've been blogging lately. from Baltimore rather than my CO/NM roadtrip.

I think it typifies something that's been running through my head lately. a change I've been noticing in my work. a trend toward subtle. this isn't too subtle, really (hey, there isn't much subtlety in Baltimore, OK?). but I think more subtle than I would have taken in the past. more of a question than a statement.

hell. I don't know. I just remember when I was first getting serious about photography reading something about subtlety and artistic maturation and thinking it was a load of crap.

maybe I was wrong.

again.
